I want the kind of love I see in the movies,

It’s the kind of love I yearn for

The kind my soul quite literally craves every time the sun rises and sets

The kind that reminds me every time I open my eyes, that I wish…

I wish for something more in life that is all-consuming,

Debilitating even, I don’t care

I want to feel wanted

I want to feel needed. Yearned for. Desired. 

Is that too much to ask for?

To want to be wanted--pine for, pursued.

To receive letters of unrequited love that scares me but in a deliciously good way

I see what it does to people--love I mean.

I see the lengths people will go to for the ones they love

I’ve heard you can tell if someone is in love first in their eyes

And when yours were all but dark, I wasn’t even surprised.

I should wake up now because my heart is breaking,

I want to feel as though the Earth is shaking

The false hope that you or anyone could ever love me 

Because if I don’t love I won’t get hurt

And if I don’t get my hopes up I won’t be disappointed

If I don’t try then I can never fail.
