I wish I could remember your face,
It has been long since it was taken from me,
A warm smile,
Bright and alluring eyes,
My nose.
Mother,
I wish I could remember your voice,
It has been long since they said it was gone,
Your bad singing,
Your wise words,
My laugh.
Mother,
I wish I could remember you,
It has been long since they switched off that machine,
Your warm embrace,
Your confidence that I did not inherit,
Your wit and allure.
I am angry that you were taken,
I am angry that the very memory of you was too.
