When Someone Asks If I’m Alright

I should say
No, I feel like I’m drowning in a pool of sadness and despair. That loneliness is grabbing at my ankles and pulling me under.
I should say
No, motivation to do anything is like that one sock you can never find. Getting out of bed is like a chore, and doing chores is harder than getting out of bed.
But instead, I say
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
