The fear of the first day,

Having no idea what to do or say,

I went through it anyway.

Everyday.

I got used to the job and the people,

Got used to the same faces daily.

The same faces that gave me a sense of comfort.

Midnights in summer,

Filled with laughter.

Filled with people who made my heart warm.

People I met that I didn’t know could give me that feeling.

A sudden turn.

It got louder.

Rumors rise of the store closing,

Raised fears of the friends and routine I had, ending.

The routines I had gotten used to,

Soon vanished like it never happened.

They say life moves on,

Pages turn,

But I stayed there

Everybody moved on,

But I stayed there.
