She remembers the moment in third grade being called paper white

She knows the hurtful words made a greater impact on her that day

She goes outside for her daily tan to feel better about the words

She feels the warmth hit her skin as she lays in the blazing sun

She hears the sizzle of her skin pop, yet she does not care

She continues to lay there sinking into her hot chair

She hears her mom tell her to put sunscreen on

She refuses and continues to endure the pain

She puts her looks over everything else

She does not feel tan enough

She feels ugly in her eyes

She remains paper white
