Autumn in New York
Autumn in New York
Leaves have freshly fallen
Temperature has dropped
From hot summer days
To a chilly and crisp haze
Autumn in New York
Orange, yellow, and red
People cozied up in their bed
A woman walking in central park
Crunching leaves below her
Autumn in New York
Apple cider in hand
Sweetly, smelling scent of cinnamon
Too good to understand
On the bench, he sits and waits
Autumn in New York
Streetlights lined the path
Their light shining through a fog
A slight breeze blowing the leaves
Tree branches shivering in the park
Autumn in New York
She wears her hair down with curls
Blonde and bouncy, each step she takes
A long chestnut coat and a scarf round her neck
She passes a man waiting on a bench
Autumn in New York
He wears an auburn leather jacket
Dark linen pants, hang just above his ankle
With hands in his pocket, he gets up to stroll
Ahead lies a woman, walking wonderfully in her scarf and coat
Autumn in New York
She turns around to see him appraising
In each other's eyes, they find themselves gazing
Together they sit in the dark
On the benches of Central Park
Autumn in New York
Who would have thought
Unexpected love would be brought
Tis the season of love in the city of new beginnings
Autumn in New York

This piece I originally wrote for a project in school, but I soon lost myself in it. And it has sparked my passion for poetry.
