The Old Man
Don’t let the Old Man in
When he knocks it’s too late
To redeem a troubled sin
And seal my damned fate
Don’t let the Old Man in
To find a life too young
Take away a mother’s kin
Before their songs can be sung
Don’t let the Old Man in
My body, weathered and worn
My soul, torn and broken
Take me to when I was born
Don’t let the Old Man in
Life can be too long
Don’t take it on the chin
Write your precious song
And don’t let the Old Man in.
Inspired by the lyrics of Toby Keith’s ‘Don’t Let the Old Man In’
