The Story
It was the story of two people, deeply in love.
It was the story that they had always dreamed of.
It was the story that brought all others hope,
The heart that sealed the envelope.
It was the story known for taking a turn.
It was the story that filled all friends with concern.
It was the story that showed getting down on one knee
Didn’t always mean “meant to be”.
It was the story that threw their lives in the trash.
It was the story that proved that opposites clash.
It was the story that formed love into hate,
The story where two people tried to fight fate.
Dear Teen Ink editors,
Thank you for considering the following poem for publication in the Teen Ink Magazine! This poem is a simultaneous submission, and I will contact you immediately if it is accepted elsewhere. This is my first time submitting a poem for publication and I really enjoyed the process. I am a high school student from San Diego and am looking forward to writing more in the future. Thank you for the important work you do!
Best,
Natalie Amir-Lobel
