How The Roles Have Reversed
Knowing you did your part.
When you come to visit we are all flourishing
All you can do is hope we keep on getting watered
You are a distant memory to the seeds you have planted
Soon you will be gone
How can you take the cards you’ve collector through the journey
And multiply ours
All you can do is your best
How do you help us not leave empty handed?
How do you help us carry every drop across the finish line?
How do you help us keep our love?
Watching each side grow further and further apart
The mentor and the apprentice
Seeing through both glasses,
It's a daily struggle.
How does one be poured into a mold
And come out a different shape
You hope you’re not the coach who shaped you
Late nights filling pools with tears
It feels like you’re cheering for the wrong team
A whole new perspective
The player becomes a coach.
