Dear Sister
Dear sister, dear sister, look at you shine.
Dear sister, dear sister, why do you cry?
In your eyes I see andromeda, in your veins are the trees.
In your mind is the future, so wild and so free.
Dear sister, dear sister, why are you down?
Your presence is life, yet you still frown.
You’re worth more than gold, and still you deny,
You sit back and watch your spark fly by.
Dear sister, please, look all around,
Time leaves your grasp quicker than sound
Dear sister, please, open your eyes,
Life surrounds you in the ground and the skies.
Dear sister, dear sister, slow yourself down,
You’re going to run yourself into the ground.
Your life needs to breathe, and so do you.
Rushing will get you no easier through.
Dear sister, dear sister, where did you go?
It is not what is easy that makes us grow.
Dear sister, dear sister, look at you glow,
Dear sister, dear sister, you’re greater than you know.

This piece was written almost as a letter to my past self, during years that were quite difficult for me to get through. I tried my best to create an imagery that can fit anyone with the "sister" role. My hope was to make an uplifting poem.
