Flashlight
Under the covers, hide from the dark
No fear in sight, just pure glee
The blinding flashlight pointing playfully
Little me is free
Of the dangers
In dark
Under the tent, hide from the dark
The elk, the bears,
Will they bite?
They might, but I should not fright
Little me may not know
The dark where the bears hide is not the monster
It's the devoid dark.
Under the sky, hide from the dark
Let the dancing moon, hit its mark
On the clock, it will see
12 o'clock it claims to be
Dark is alive
Welcome in fact,
Hiding in silence
Of the loudness from screams
Under the roof, hide from He dark
Close your door, hide the art
That is you, your life and passions,
Not the dream of dark, not faint of
Heart will break, bad blood gush from the chest
Its my fault, that's what dark says.
Dark says he's done, the sun will rise
But the dark will come, and need the flashlight again
Tis not the first time dark says he's done,
Yet even when the kind sun may come
It shall set, again and again
Dark demands apologies
“The sun is not supposed to fall”
When apologies attempt,
Dark is exempt
From his hearing and asks
The words fall from my mouth
A million times
“I'M sorry” I say
But dark does not hear
The flashlight, she is bright
Heart and soul, her light,
Long lasting, longer than the sun,
She'll help me read and write,
But most of all she'll help me fight
Night is gone, Sun has risen, bright flashlight is off
But I still glisten.
Flashlight has gone,
Lost to the unknown
Dark finds his way back,
But it is no longer he
Flashlight has fled,
My Juliet,
Gone with the cold wind.
Not under the covers
Don't hide from the dark
For dark will come
But the playful sun will rise
