Hunger
I don't want to eat
Unwavering feelings
Of unstoppable hunger
Overflow my guilty conscience
Until I surrender to a snack
I don’t want to eat
My body, skin and bones
Unable to retain weight
From the avalanche of junk food
I feel forced to consume, day by day
I don’t want to eat
My mother, bless her soul
Tirelessly slaves away
Breaking the bank on grocery trips
Just to watch it disappear in days
I don’t want to eat
Eating in false belief
Of physical benefit
Instead, crumbs litter my bedsheets
And I search like a vulture for prey
I don’t want to eat
My stomach, a black hole
A void, swallowing all things
Always begging for slight respite
From the ineffable nature of
Hunger

Hi, my name is Talon. I'm 18 and live in California. I write as a hobby and usually make personal problems or hot topics my focal point in my writing. Hoping that I'll eventually write something that helps me discover who I am.
This poem is a free verse poem dedicated to my high metabolism, and how I'm always hungry no matter what I do and how much I eat.
