The pendulum swings

Between the sadness

Only rain brings

Turning earth to soaking mess

Before hardening 

To shards of ice cracking 

Melting under thick flame

Destroying with careless aim

A pot left too long on the stove

In the damp alcove

Ladle balanced on the edge

To keep the flood off the ledge
