Happiness is a Butterfly
Happiness is not something I own
It comes and goes like the swirls of the tide
I reach out with hopeful hands
I try to clench onto it
But it just disintegrates
Shriveling to dust and floating away with the wind
As soon as my fingers graze its surface
So delicate it is like a butterfly’s wing
But I have found
If I sit quietly, alone in the garden
The butterflies will slowly flutter closer
Landing on my shoulders
Brushing their soft wings against my skin
Happiness is a butterfly
