“Work until your idols become your rivals”

Aspen was as fresh as fall,

But we never thought she would fall.

Tucked in her stall,

Alleviating my pain better than paracetamol.

Aspen was as worthy as winter,

But no one believed she would survive the winter.

Although her pain was bitter,

She could still soothe my jitter.

Aspen was as sweet as spring,

But the spring in her step was gone.

Taut as a string,

I could feel the sting.

Aspen was as sacred as summer,

But she wasn’t there for summer.

Life had outrun her,

But she no longer suffers.

This is my first official poem, I like to make poems in my head but I never write them down. This is about one of my horses that we had to lose after a puncture wound to her leg.
