Echoes of Autumn

June 1, 2024
By Anonymous

Autumn breeze gently brushes, leaves drifting,
In the solitude of the season, amidst tranquil silence.
Frost descends, chill thickens,
Leaves falling, drifting leisurely.

Night darkens, burdens weigh heavy,
Thoughts tangled, hard to articulate.
Withered vines, aged trees, wither and fall,
Only the cold crow cries in desolation.

In the lonely night, sleepless,
Autumn's essence deepens, thoughts lingering.
A river of autumn water, accompanying solitary shadows,
Longing floods like tides, drifting by the spring's edge.

The author's comments:

The arrival of autumn evokes poignant feelings in me, reminding me of the time when I had just experienced heartbreak. The falling leaves seem to hint that everything is destined, some things are irreversible. So, let them scatter with the wind, just like the leaves in my hand being blown away by the breeze.
