jail cell

my room, an oasis, a heaven.

where the pained go to rest
where the thoughts fade away

where the arguments break out,
like a bomb firing into a dark pit. like the
forests exploding in the wind. like my
tiny heart and soul crying to the void

my room, my quicksand of
a bed. the place that shackles
me, holds me to my cell

such an unfamiliar and familiar
place. such a place holds me
captive, where i can’t escape.

my room, has become the only
thing left.

my room, where the dead go to hide

where the pained go to die

The author's comments:

It can be interpreted in a multitude of ways, for one, it can be seen as someone going through the quarantine and how much it has affected them, their mindset, their life. It can also be seen as someone in a rut, struggling by every day, struggling just to get out of bed, to function. It can be seen as someone betrayed by humanity, and completely alone in the world. It depends on your view point and what you'd like to see this as.

I'm a 16 year old young author who aspires too be able to see my work somewhere in real life. My goal isn't truly to make money, or to really even publish something popular as I don't think I could ever deal with the huge level of fame. I just want to be recognized, I want someone to know who I am, I want to be realized in the world, and someone be able to see my work, read it, and think about it.
