Modern Culture
Urban sprawl can say it all
Architecture at its best
Perfect soil for civil unrest
As the ones who can pay for the blueprints
Erect stucco thrones atop a kingdom called High Town
While the rest reside farther down
Where a false sense of security can be displayed
On a red brick wall with neon spray-paint
A signature at the bottom of an endless list of hopeful imprints
Wanting to take the win
For a team you're better off just not playing for;
Better be the losing team than the player that looses it all
But out here in the city thrall
It's all about blood
And races are rewritten and redefined
So who you knew yesterday
Today wants to put you down to an early asphalt grave
With a tool a fool thinks bring respect; it's honor
But how can you get commended on a life you've already spent
Paying the rent to an addiction
Your new daily subscription
Just another shameful affliction
To puff out into the air you cry out to
Hoping someone might hear you
And that this new life you started
Without really planning out that far
Sees you finding an end
In a newly paved asphalt grave
So common in today's modern culture
