Rhythm
The waves beat
This brain to rhythm.
This time is them.
They whisper songs
Only played once-
Each bar hunts
The quavering mind.
Songs sing of past,
Of love grown fast,
Of flowers in bloom,
Of life and light,
Then sorrows might
And tears rushing down.
They sing of now,
This petty present,
Life evanescent.
Tide chases me in
Up the shore.
Into my heart pour
The courage needed!
Of future they sing,
Of life they bring.
Forever waves,
Forward and back,
To movement I lack.
