Weight
Ones spirit’s often heavy,
With a body.
My soul! it did not choose
This humble cage.
It’s parts were thrown
at random into one.
A nose from ma, an ear from da
But nothing of my own.
I had no means to voice
What hair I wanted.
Or weather sweet or
Not, my smile should be.
My spirit is so heavy,
With this body.
My soul it wants to fly
But it is trapped!
For wings was not I given
And voice do not I have
In which to ask the Lord
My God –
“Oh Father, make me fly.”
