Desire
Desire is purple, the shade of a juicy plum
It’s the body of my favorite superstar
The cool car my best friend drives
It’s the wave of his hair
The sparkle in my eye
It’s a rose and I bleed when it pricks
It sounds like the roll of a slot machine
And the whistle of the sea with its breezy waves
And the rustling of leaves on a windy fall day
Desire smells like limes, daring me to take a bite
But it reeks of tuna, making me recoil
It tastes like blackberries, bitter but sweet
Desire feels like a feather, and I shiver to its touch.
