The things I thought I'd never do

I’d never cross your mind
As a bad thing left behind
But if a bad thing done
Is a victory won
Then it might just cross your mind.

I’d never try to resolve
Problems left unsolved
But if solving one problem
could help me in the long run
Then it’s one I might try to solve.

I’d never tell a lie
When I know that you would try
To discover the truth
But if you never knew
Then I might just tell that lie.

There were things I’d never do
Because I was hurt and confused
But now I realize
That the way to get by
Is with the things I thought I’d never do.
