Today
As I whimper out into the night with unspeakable yearning,
I realize right outside my world is still turning.
There is so much hatred, confusion, and despair,
To understand that an innocent child has to be so aware.
The depression of this time is difficult to ignore,
Feeling wanted but yet defeated from this dreadful war.
For the problems that are coming, the present anger and sadness,
How can I see all the bright things through all the madness?
I keep in mind the light will always shine through,
There will be more struggling but I need to pursue.
Remembering that there is always a way,
Believing, through everything, there is no day but today.
