I remember those trips to the store
When I would pick the most expensive toy
And loving you was so easy

I remember those family game nights
When you would let me win monopoly every time
And loving you was so easy

I remember all of the times we went on vacation
When you would let me believe that I had “the grown-up drink”
And loving you was so easy

I remember those times when you put your cold soda against my skin
When I would squeal with laughter and delight
And loving you was so easy

I remember the day those memories went sour
When you packed up and walked out the door
And loving you became harder
