Based off of Tiny Dancer
By: Elton John
When I was little,
I had dreams to be a Prima Ballerina,
Dreams that were impossible at the time.
I knew what famous singer I was going to marry,
I knew I wanted to move to L.A. and fulfill my dreams,
And the children I would have with them.

When I was little,
I played dress up,
I played house,
I played in the sand.

When I was little,
I wore frilly socks,
Jeans,
And little sun dresses.

When I was little,
Nothing or no one could get me to smile,
My mom called it my “Pirate Smile.”

When I was little,
I was told I had “Smiled with my eyes,”
I didn’t believe it, but it made me feel good.

When I was little,
My dad would drive me home from dance class, and play his 70’s and 80’s music
Then,
This song came on,
He said it was made for me.

“Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand.”

To this day,
It remains my favorite song,
To this day,
It makes me think of my dad,
To this day,
It cheers me up when I'm sad.
To this day,
To this day it inspires me.
To this day,
It makes me want to fear getting old,
It makes realize I won’t be here forever,
It makes me want to freeze time, and live in the moment,
While I still am that
“Tiny Dancer.”
