I Was Just Me
Past the mist covered mountains,
The ocean turned dark blue.
Through those crowded streets,
I saw faces that only I knew.
As the grass grows green,
A splash of color fills the air.
The birds are calling to me.
Though it seemed so long ago,
Sun shine sparkled in the clouds.
I lost my sense of feeling,
Busy with life and rolling thunder.
Naïve about love and how to live.
If only I knew about you sooner,
Maybe my heart won’t be torn in two,
But you were you and I was just me.
We live in different worlds,
I was nowhere to be seen.
Already in love with a girl,
Your names were one of a same.
How could I ever be better,
Than a girl who stole your heart?
She has curls of gold,
And the beauty of a swan.
I was just me and nothing else.
