No Perfect World
In a perfect world,
you and I would have inside jokes.
Phone calls, texts, and visits
would all be expected.
In a perfect world,
there would be no fake smiles
plastered on a breaking heart;
no misery with a goodbye;
no grief about our conversation.
No, in a perfect world,
you and I would be perfect...
or at least extremely close.
But no, it's not a perfect world,
and I am nowhere near to you.
Far from you I stand, in fact,
alone with the illusion of you
that I have created in my
most naive and childish form of imagination.
No phone calls, no visits, no prom.
No colleges, no long nights.
No wedding bells, chocolate cake-
No perfect world.
