Eerie streets
Dark shapes form and slither around me
strange noises come from shadowy passages
eyes glow from dark corners
I turn a corner
the street is as eerie as the last
movement behind me makes me start
I hear breathing near me
my heart is in my mouth
creatures quickly scuttle their way across the road
I turn another corner
is it my imagination or is it getting darker?
My lantern flickers as a cold wind ruffles my clothes
leaves and papers swirl at my feet
As I walk down the last street I can see the murky waters if the harbour
the boats creaking as they bob on the waves
I shiver in the cold darkness of the night
Suddenly my lantern dies
I am standing on the edge if the pier
the only light is the subtle reflection of the moon on the water
a terrible silence descends around me
My heart beats exceedingly fast in my chest
a cold sweat covers my face
ice runs through my veins
my whole frame shudders
The silence is finally shattered
by a scream
and everything returns to it's movements
until the next night
