When you're in sight
My knees start to shake,
When you’re in sight.
My mind is filled with wonder,
My heart with fright.
When I see you near,
I start to realize,
My heart sends up tears,
But I try not to cry.
You approach me,
Gentle and kind.
I look away,
Yet still not trying to cry.
You speak soft words,
That almost seemed to rhyme.
You say you love me,
I break down in tears.
You say you’ll help me,
Wash away my fears.
You hug me close,
As if you’d never let go.
You say you’ll be with me,
Through rain or snow.
I found some words cheesy,
But I know you meant them.
So I took those words,
And held tight to them.
You spent your time with me,
We never grew apart.
We now belonged,
To each other’s heart.
My knees still shake,
When you’re in sight.
My mind no longer filled with wonder,
My heart with no fright.
