Faded Smile
You smile
So friendly it appears
But I see the truth
The past sadness and tears
Oh how I long to see
That beautiful angel's face
Instead of the apathetic grace
Your eyes always use on me
I try so hard
To uproot your sorrow
And instead plant happiness
That will bloom tomorrow
Such a monotone voice
Sometimes it makes my heart break
Then a thought I always take
"Did you have a choice?"
Sometimes it's unfair
As I watch you, sit and stare
How those children so cruel
Went and picked on you
How the luster in your eyes
Is merely a disguise
How that girl stole away
Your feelings of joyful gay
A smile isn't forever
As you may have guessed
But as we walk together
I know that I am blessed
For even though you cannot smile
I see it in your eyes
The man inside that no one sees
I love him more than life
