I am From
I am from the motherly saying, “Well life just isn’t fair” and the flicker of a burning vanilla candle. I am from the smell of summer fresh cut grass and the strange clucking of wild turkeys. The room with the never ending laundry pile and miss placed cell phone is where I lay my head most nights of the week. I am from the flicker of the street light surrounded by the neighborhood dogs and the roaring of a summer fire where friends and family gather. I am from one more marsh mellow and I’ll burst to night vision goggles gazing nervously into the dark woods. The sizzle of hamburgers and brats is a familiar sound in my ears when the weather is pleasant and the hard wood deck made by my father’s hands is a place to spend my lazy summer days. Where I am from will never be forgotten the memories and experiences I obtained from this place will last a life time.
