You Promised
It was late summer
The night was black and full of life
Wind blew the branches of the big dogwood
And we were whole
It was a full moon
Stars shined down upon us
And reflected in your eyes as you looked at mine
I was there
You were too
I heard your promise
So did you
But did you keep it?
Or have you left me to die?
When you held my hand
And led me inside
Up the pitch black staircase
Into the room
We were alone
Only me and you
But you locked the door
There was no escaping
The house was silent
Except for our breathing
Except for my head screaming
But no one could hear
Because I didn’t know
If I was wrong
And I was silent
As I listened to you
Promise me everything
Promise the truth
While you led me
Through the darkened room
No need to worry you said
This is really fun it’s just a game
Well I was too naïve to understand
Just what we would be doing
So I SUCCUMBED
I fell UNDER
Forever BROKEN
And I loved every second of it
The only witness being YOU
My only savior being YOU
My betrayer, my traitor, my darling
Pulled me UNDER
My lover, my only other, never another
You
