I had always wanted to write a good poem
you know, the kind that would absolutely blow you away
the sort of poem that would knock you off your feet,
letting you catch a glimpse into my scattered psyche,
splattered against the computer screen
like paint against the canvas
the type of poem that you can't keep your eyes off of for fear
that at any moment it will
jump
off

the

page
and come ALIVE
personifying in the room
blowing kisses your way, sashaying between the black and white keys of the piano
spiraling through the air, unhinging your jaw, popping your eyes
and then e v a p o r a t i n g
becoming one with the air around you, propelled by the wind
to fly out the door and drop onto someone else's shoulder
with a satisfying “CLUNK!”
the kind of poem that publishers will look at and nod,
rubbing their itchy palms together hungrily
the type of poem that even high school teachers would be tempted to
brand with five shiny gold stars and then
brag about in the teacher's lounge over a cup of coffee and stale donuts
the sort of poem whose words would convince you to tell me
that I'm a-m-a-z-i-n-g
the kind of poem that would spark a little light in your heart
that electric pear tinkering around in your brain, waiting to be illuminated
it will light up when you read my words, igniting your creativity
the type of poem that is so vast that it takes up the entire room,
making your very walls sing its praise
letters instead of legroom, my words will replace oxygen
and I want you to breathe the very essence of this poem in
I want this poem to take your breath away, throwing it to the winds
where along with caution it will carry on to caress my cheek and fill me up
like the fuel at the gas pump by my house
just like that fuel into the car, I spill out my feelings into this poem
watching as the puddle of words stretches out across the gleaming
linoleum and reaches the
tips of my toes, sinking underneath my nails
the sort of poem that will sink underneath your nails too
immersing itself in your skin, penetrating each and every one of your lovely bones
I had always wanted to write a good poem
you know the type
that kind of poem that you would never forget
regardless of how many poems I've written or will write
giving up on this pursuit for the ideal poem, I have to forbid
I had always wanted to write a good poem
oh, but it appears that
I
just
did

I started writing this one poem and as I wrote it, this poem appeared! I love when that happens :)

I love it! I think you captured the essence perfectly and I think we've all been there at one point or another in our creative processes. Thanks for sharing! Please check out my work :)

I can't seem to find any of your poetry on here - that's weird >.<

Is that really true though? Wow, great minds must really think alike ^^

I love this! Check my poem out "I've Always Wanted" it starts with the same opening line as yours. Kind of creepy actaully.

Thanks! It's meant more for performance than reading on a page so I was a little concerned about it, but that's good to know C:
