Because
Because you saw the beauty in your sons uneven rows,
You gave them a pat on the back.
Because you saw beauty in your daughter, the beautiful bride,
You let go of her hand.
Because you saw beauty in the blonde curled little girl,
You devoted your life to her.
Because you saw beauty in the way your neighbors labored,
You helped them.
Because you saw the beauty when everyone else saw the wreckage,
You showed them how to move on.
Because you saw the beauty of God in all of us,
Even in our not so pleasant moments, you loved us.
Because you saw the beauty in the sickly baby everyone else felt sorry for,
You helped her live.
Because you saw the beauty in all of us,
And helped us, we thank you.
For now we know true beauty isn’t the body
But, what’s inside that body.
