Every Moment Counts
Speed,speed,speed the speedometer inching forward,
going faster by the minute.
Being carefree teenagers
living the life just in the moment.
Free and enjoying the summer air
not thinking, singing along with the radio with friends.
One Moment changes everything,
from a great time to a terror ride.
Speed,speed,speed the speedometer inching forward,
going faster by the minute.
Making a sharp turn to avoid a deer,
to lose control over the vehicle.
Everything happening so fast at once,
the car flips three times.
Smashing into the dash, and the side door,
feeling the warmness of blood.
Watch as an older brother tries to protect his younger sister:
knowing he is putting himself in danger.
The crash launching him out of the car:
out of the rear window.
Hear him mumble before unconscious:
"I Love You"
Speed,Speed, speed, feeling freedom as I drive faster,
only in a distant dream, look where it got me.
In the hospital;
speed, speed, speed glory of the fast lane, you are a risk.
People are right,
life is a highway which I want to keep riding down.
