Alone in the City
A boy and a girl hold hands in the city
Beneath the starry sky, they are alone
Together, they paint a mural of their memories
The boy is afraid of losing the girl
He is afraid of the future
But most of all he is afraid of himself
He tells her he loves her
Far more often than she tells him
He understands, and says nothing
He makes mistakes
Some worse than others
She understands, and comforts him
The world looks down on the boy
She takes his side when no one will
He knows he doesn't deserve her
He loves her
And even if others say it won't last
He knows it will if they let it
He tries hard to impress her
Because he knows others, do as well
She smiles at him, she appreciates him
He thinks of her as an angel
Sent by God to save him
He doesn't know why God would do that for him
