When I Was Dreaming
I had a dream last night,
That took up all my time
And I woke to find you gone.
You had lain down beside me
The night before.
And you had left, sometime after,
But I had stayed asleep
Because I was dreaming.
My dream had seemed so real
As the darkness had pressed my eyes
Back into my head.
And there was singing,
Beautiful sound of human voice.
You were there,
Sitting in the shade
Beckoning for me to come.
I didn’t know that I was dreaming
And so I followed,
Into the unknown world.
And then I woke and you were gone.
Its funny, I had thought
That you would be there still,
Because I was dreaming.
