Growing Up
Sometimes, you don’t even see it happening.
You were that little girl, so small but felt so big.
Life was simple, no sharp turns, no bumps along the way, no sickness from the joyful but treacherous ride.
It was all smooth and easy.
Peanut butter sandwiches,
Playdates,
Barbies.
In the background, Rugrats was playing.
You’ve seen the episode before, but for some reason, seeing it again was just as thrilling.
And then, everything changed.
Your life turned upside down…
Hectic, strained, pressured.
You were evolving right before your eyes,
And those simple years were gone.
Tough years replaced them,
Filled with drama, pimples, boys..
Everything that made your life unpleasant.
And everything that made your life amazing.
Exciting. Refreshing. New.
The daily challenges were faced with joy, and the simple days were soon forgotten..
Life changed and you got over it. You embraced it.
Sometimes, you don’t even see it happening.
But when you do, you will love it.
