Scared, Not Afraid
"...he isn't trying. He doesn't love me."
"I hate her..."
she hates me...
"I forgot. I don't count."
you do to me.
"You're always beautiful."
i could be less beautiful...
The image
of her in the tub,
trying to die
but unable to drown.
The symbolism
in the piece of her failed attempt
given to me,
the one who need not try.
There are few things more sad
than having a life that no one
wants
to take off your hands;
than saying, "I'm scared of dying,
but I have no reason
to live."
Is it selfish
to want someone so unhappy
to stick around
simply because we'd miss them
if they were gone?
Could we ever stop blaming ourselves
for not trying hard enough
if she decided to leave?
Of course, for Alice.
