Strawberry Seeds MAG
I pick the strawberry seeds
Out of my teeth
Lazy
Reading Yeats and Auden
There's an autograph I'll never get
They're a little over my head
But I get the gist
At least I know who Chaucer and Solomon were
Most teenager can't say the same
They won't pick up a book
They'll google it
They'll skip the words they don't know
And forget all about it
And remain unchanged
I always ask questions
I'm smarter for it
Got my Russian Gypsy Punk Rock Music
Playing in the background
Debating if I should use the typewriter
Gathering dust on top of my very full bookshelf
There's laundry that needs folding
The hat boxes need to be put away
But I'd rather lie here and write a poem
Than clean my room
Like most teenagers
