No Common Sense
How can you trip me
If I'm already falling?
How can you fix me
If I'm already mended?
Why do you argue
When you know you're right?
Why do you lie
When you could just speak the truth?
What's the point of fighting
To the win,
To the death,
To defeat?
What's the point of war
'Tween nations,
'Tween enemies,
'Tween friends?
What's the point of murder
For glory,
For money,
For thrill?
What's the point of hatred
Of work,
Of men,
Of self?
What don't you understand about love
And smiling every day?
Don't you understand compassion
And caring for lonely, lost souls?
What don't you understand about peace
And not hating your fellow man?
Don't you understand harmony
And learning from your mistakes?
Who ever told you "consequences"
Was just a twelve-letter word?
Who ever told you wisdom
Consisted of but smarts?
Who ever told you smiling
Is forbidden on bad days?
Who ever told you crying
Will make your problems go away?
Where will you go when you have pushed
All your friends away?
Where will you go when you're so old,
You look down on childish games?
Where will you turn when your lies are exposed,
When you must tell the truth?
Where will you turn when the ones you abused
Won't tolerate anymore?
When your "other half" walks out on you,
Will you be able to stay whole?
When your world collapses under you,
Will you be able to stand tall?
When the ones you trust start falling away,
Will you look inside yourself?
When your loved ones start dying,
When the walls in your heart cave in,
When you really have something to cry about,
Will you finally comprehend?
Is that what it will take?
When everything you did comes back,
Will you finally get common sense?
Maybe,
Maybe,
Maybe;
We will see.
Maybe,
Maybe,
Or you could just listen to me.
