Cracker Jacks
Lying on the couch, savoring the
Crispy,
Chewy,
Gooey,
Sugary,
Melt-in-your-mouth
Deliciousness of
Cracker Jacks.
My hand reaches instinctively
For another piece
The moment my mouth
Stops chewing.
I should stop,
But I don’t.
Can’t,
Or won’t.
I pop some in my mouth.
I really should stop.
Chew on another fistful.
But it’s just.
So.
Good!
Lick my sticky,
Caramel covered fingers.
Okay,
Last one.
Chewing, chewing, swallowing…
And reaching for another batch
Of temptation.
I poke my belly,
And frown
When it jiggles.
These bite sized pieces
Of heaven
Are completely delectable.
But I
-Officially -
Hate
Cracker Jacks.
