Looking to Him
From where I sit,
Everything looks normal.
But what can I say,
I look through these eyes every day.
What if I were looking,
Through the eyes of a child.
Would I see the world with innocence?
A pretty green pasture
behind a white picket fence?
What if I were looking,
Through the eyes of a man.
Would I see the world as a task,
And would I hide behind a mask?
What if I were looking,
Through the eyes of a woman.
Would I look in the mirror,
And see a world filled with fear?
What if I were looking,
Through the eyes of the sick.
Would I see agony and pain,
Too much to bear, with nothing to gain?
What if I were looking,
Through the eyes of the rich.
Would I see anger and greed,
Always feeling there is more I need?
What if I were looking,
Through the eyes of the poor.
Would I see hunger and sorrow,
No sight for a better tomorrow?
Oh, through whose ever eyes I glance,
Nothing happens by chance.
For we may see,
What we have seen for years,
But one day,
All shall change.
And then?
Will we still be content?
For it will be too late to repent.
We will see hell's high walls,
Crimson red, crawling, creeping.
We will see endless torture,
We will see tears of grief.
Our ears will burn up,
With the constant screams of pain.
Oh, my dear people,
He that hath eyes, let him see.
God is what you and I need.
For without him,
Our sights will be short-lived.
Find Him,
And we will receive the eternal gift,
Of resting our eyes,
Forever on Him.
