The Greatest Lie
I have so many secrets
But none I have to share
I keep them locked away inside
Away from the prying eyes
From the ones full of hate
No one knows... Except us.
We. You. Me.
Are the only souls on Earth
To know the clarity
Of the finest truth
Beneath the dust and ashes;
The greatest lie ever told
Although some may seek
They will never discover
What lies beneath the thorns;
Under the tattered petals
And fallen feathers
Chains, rusted on metal gates
with locks that have long since
Lost their silver keys
And no matter how shaken, rattled
they will never open
To reveal what lies within;
The greatest lie ever told
