We Race
We race toward the finish line,
Looking always for a sign
To stop and be satisfied;
We race toward the finish line,
Miles gone in faded memories
And cities wrapped in aged stories.
We pass the rising sun,
And jog through full noon.
We overtake the clouds ablaze,
And reach the final rays.
We at last pass the finish line,
Regretful of our wasted time.
