Promise of Rain

Oh what happened
To that promise of rain?
Gone time and time and time
Again?
Where did it go,
That watery promise;
When I want it to come
To the earth for a kiss?
Ah! There it is
Yet so timid, unsure,
When it could be as grand
As an overture.
But there it is,
So soft and sweet;
Maybe one day
We will get the chance to meet.
