Against my mother's heart
I feel the roots of a strong woman
Steady it drums inside my ear
Steady I breathe inside my mind
With ease and relaxation
Her chest goes in and out
A simple sigh that lets me know
Everything will be alright
For many years I ran for her embrace
And for many years she has accepted mine
For what reason will a mother let her child
Drain the very life from her
A life that she has worked so hard to achieve
It only comes down to this: Love
Any other reasoning will be absurd
A mother's love built on faith
Faith strong enough to fight through
Unattainable battles and somehow succeed
Faith strong enough to conquer life's heartache
And mold it into a rose
Presented so that although you see the thorns
It becomes shadowed by the petals of beauty

My mother has inspired me in ways I can't describe. I have great admiration for her.
