The Boy Who Stole My Heart
Is sitting in his gray chair
with his black hair
his melting brown eyes
glowering as his fire dies.
Immersed in darkness
everything but bliss.
I call out hoping
the darkness isn't choking
his misused soul
dark as coal.
If only he would look back
and not fade into the black
so he can catch my hand
and be in my land,
where he can feel the light
and maybe he just might
realize that everything is okay
and stay for another day.
But the boy who stole my heart
is still sitting in his gray chair
with his black hair
his melting brown eyes
still glowering as his fire dies.
He is still immersed in darkness
everything but bliss.
And yet I call out hoping
the darkness isn't choking
his misused soul
dark as coal.
