this chain i carry
This chain I carry, holds be back.
The love I cherished which I now lack.
Different was my world, my heart, my soul,
Now inside my feelings, like burning coal.
I’m lost in memories of excitement, of fun,
Trying to remember when this pain had begun.
When had I joined this army of forgotten
Change in my mind, for revealing is a sin
They said I was weird, so wrong, so obscure,
They hadn’t known different was keeping me pure.
I tried to convince them to tell them my stand,
I tried to lure them and give them my hand.
Now I try to be normal, to be proud of my name,
But it’s hard to be proud when everyone’s the same.
But under this madness, my insides like purl,
Hiding my difference, a carefree little girl.
