The entirety of the poem 'Invictus' (amongst many many more...)

I refuse to squander the day
I refuse to turn away
I refuse to grow old and wither
Be it in thought or conscience hither
I refuse to let you win
To let you seize my fiendish grin
I refuse to let it go
To let it trail amongst lost days of woe
I refuse to let it go.

I refuse to say I will
Will conform
To selfish living
I refuse to hand you the key
To ball and chain and liberty
I refuse to give you the right
The right to say no
On every night
I refuse to let you stand
Allow your shadow to cast on my land
I refuse to stand and wait
As bait
Never was my nature to hesitate
I refuse to put my future
All
Complete
Wild living creature
I refuse to place it in your grasp
In your talons
Against your wrath
I refuse to let you crush it
To let you mould it
To let you hush it
I refuse that power to you
Against strain and hunger I will pull through
I will
Pull
Through.

I refuse to dilute my mind
I refuse to pacify
I refuse to let it wash away
Dissolved in society’s masquerade
I refuse to permit the mask
To gaze upon my life and bask
In all the light I will become
The glory
Though not martyrdom
I refuse to bow my head
To submit and fall
To succumb to dread
I refuse your hand on my shoulder
The hand or fist that could push me under
I refuse you behind my back
Where ever constant sly knives tread
I refuse to let you lead my path
I am alive
I am not dead
I refuse your platitudes
Your euphemisms
Your pitiful woos
I refuse your words of black
I refuse to give you slack
Whenever your rope comes loose
And falls
Dropping me onto the floor
I refuse to depend on you
To rely
To trust
To share with you
I refuse my self that break
I refuse to let it break me
Push me you may
Shove me you might
Smash on my boundaries
Bring in the night
Engulf me in vacuums
Choke me with absence
Twist me in truth
Strap me on the balance
I refuse to be judged by you
I refuse your verdict too
I refuse
I cry in protest
I writhe against the ignorant arrest
I refuse to give in
I refuse to go
To abide
To adhere

If you’ll permit me so.

The pain that have cost us, the evils which have never happened. <br /> - Thomas Jefferson

This is amazing. I can feel everything so clearly, your emotion and strength. Everything, I love it. My favourite line was - i refuse your words of black. This is the strongest poem i have read.
